Future of Transport

June 2009 - Polis welcomes the Communication adopted by the Commission on 'A sustainable future for transport: Towards an integrated, technology-led and user friendly system'   [the Communication] 

In 2001, the Commission issued a White Paper setting an agenda for the European transport policy throughout 2010. Approaching the end of the ten-year period, the Commisssion would like to look further ahead and define a vision for the future of transport and mobility, preparing the ground for later policy developments.

The Commission intends to launch a debate on the main challenges and opportunities for the transport sector in the long term (20 to 40 years). To contribute to this aim, this Communication has been adopted.

Urban mobility

April 2009 - Polis welcomes the adoption by the European Parliament of a report on an action plan on urban mobility [press release] [the full report]

January 2009 - Polis proposal for an updated position on Commission's Green Paper on urban mobility [here]  

March 2008 - Polis replied to the Commission's Green Paper on urban mobility. The response is available [here]

Polis replied to the European Commission's document released on 25 September. It outlines a large range of potential solutions and areas where the EU could take action in order to tackle the growing congestion, pollution and safety problems in Europe's cities.
